Are you still making your 4th of July beach plans? Consider heading to Carolina Beach this holiday week, where summer is in full swing! Many thanks to our friends at Carolina Beach Today for sharing the following events on their blog: 4th of July 2012 Equals a Week of Fun at Carolina Beach Pleasure Island has another great week of FREE activities for your vacationing and leisure-time fulfillment. There is always something for everyone on our little slice of paradise. Please plan on joining us for a double dose of music and fireworks this week. Beginning on Tuesday, July 3rd, we will be having our HUGE Independence Fireworks show at 9:00 pm (that is four times bigger than our Thursday night shows) with DUTCH TREET performing from 6:30 -9:00. Dutch Treet is a musical tour of your favorite tunes that you can dance to from the 70s all the way up to today’s current hits with an occasional detour down a side street into the land of big hair and spandex. You’ll dance, you’ll clap your hands, you may even throw your fist in the air and make the sign that means, “ROCK and ROLL”, but one thing’s for sure, you’re in for a TREET! After you get over all your hot dogs, beach time and fireworks in town, join us for Cash BINGO at the Gazebo Stage from 7:00-9:00 on Wednesday evening, July 4th. And you guessed it…join us again on Thursday night, July 5th, for music and fireworks at the Carolina Beach Gazebo with the hard rock sounds of BALD FURY. Music from 6:30pm to 9:00pm and fireworks start at 9:00pm (weather permitting). “Bald Fury ROCKS!!”…that’s the comment most frequently heard from their growing legion of fans. For over five years, Bald Fury has been exciting the southeast with their fiery interpretations of Classic Rock anthems from the 60′s through the 90′s and even some samplings of modern rock. On Saturday July 7th, the very popular Carolina Beach Farmer’s Market will be at the Carolina Beach Lake from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. To close out the week, on Sunday, July 8th, the movie at the Carolina Beach Lake will be the highly acclaimed, Academy Award winning feature HUGO directed by Martin Scorsese. The showing will be at 8:45 pm at the corner of South Lake Park Boulevard and Atlanta Avenue. Hugo is the astonishing adventure of a wily and resourceful boy whose quest to unlock a secret left to him by his father will transform Hugo and all those around him, and reveal a safe and loving place he can call home. All movies are weather-dependent, so be sure to call ahead (910-458-8434), if the weather seems threatening to make sure the show will go on. These films are free and open to the public. Popcorn, candy, soft drinks, cotton candy and other popular concessions are available at reasonable prices. This is a true summer time treat for adults and kids alike.
